This is an interesting video of Snowridge’s installation of an I-beam that is 24-ft,7-inches long and weighs 800 lbs.
This project has been over a year in development. Snowridge’s project manager Chuck and our project coordinator Reginy have been working with EK Architecture and B2 Engineers to design a set of plans for permit.
Prior to this installation, Snowridge’s lead carpenters Javier and Marco skillfully demoed and set temporary support walls and installed new footings in the homeowner’s basement to carry the new beam.
The installation began when our welders TJ and Marvin prepped and lifted the beam up twenty feet from street level with a roller boom. Our crew of five men worked together with TJ and Marvin, using physical strength and jacks to seat it in a slot cut out between the existing floor joist.
Listening to the video, you will hear the conversation between these seven professionals in deciding how to make it happen. There is no yelling, arguing or confusion – just a steady flow of discussion and safety awareness of doing the job.
I will add more videos showing the progress on this challenging job.
